APCA Washington Chapter hosted its heritage dinner on Sunday May 21st. The heritage dinner provided a wonderful opportunity to award scholarships to our 2017 APCA scholars from Washington State along with commemorating Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month. Fundraising proceeds from the dinner benefited next year's scholarship fund.
APCA awarded six scholarships to students from Washington State this year. The two national scholars who were awarded $2000 are Amy Nguyen (Tukwila, WA) and Edward Yang (Kenmore, WA). Our Washington Chapter also awarded four $1000 state scholarships to Adam Tucker (Mercer Island, WA), Andrew Xue (Redmond, WA), Jacob Settle (Gig Harbor, WA) and Maria Alverez (Deer Park, WA). A special congratulation goes APCA member Gina Li whose son, Andrew Xue, was awarded the state scholarship at the dinner.
Special thanks goes to Rani Sandoy-Brown who did an amazing job as our chapter's scholarship director this year. Washington chapter supplied the most volunteers to the APCA Scholarship Program this year! An amazing accomplishment for a small chapter!
